Who We are

HungerZero is a ACNC approved charity. It was set up by a small team committed to help people who are suffering financial hardship or experiencing sudden mishap in life, such as unemployment, sickness, death of beloved, separation, etc.

From a humble beginning at the home base garage, HungerZero has since then moved to a warehouse at North Rocks to support its core part of food distribution functions. In 2021, we begin to add on more programs. We are supported by lot of enthusiastic volunteers who have the hearts to dedicate their valuable time, energy and every efforts to contribute to the community.
We are ATO approved charity eligible for issuing Deductible Gift Receipts (DGR) for any donation over $2 in Australia.

I am a typical Gemini romantic dream seeker, who have the genuine passion and compassion. No matter how tough life the real world is, I always believe Romain Rolland's motto "There is only one heroism in the world: to see the world as it is and to love it".

I was born in China and lived in various Chinese cities before moving to Sydney. I lost my dad when I was 12. He had terminal cancer. With 4 kids to raise, my mom had deep depression and the whole family could barely afford food and rent. I deeply know what hunger was when I needed to spend less than $10 for 3 meals a day. I was fortunate enough to graduate from university but could hardly forget how I struggled between life, work and study more than 20 years ago. In 2004, I was granted permanent residency to move to beautiful Australia to live a new life. Sadly, just before my real move, I was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition Neurofibromatosis Type 2 which affected my neurology system. This was a really frightening news which took me a while to face, absorb and accept, then found doctors and underwent numerous surgeries and recoveries. Life is tough, but never give up hopes. Believe that there are always nice people in the world and around you who give you warmth as well.

I was born in Samoa. I moved to Australia when I was 10 years old. Having grown up in Mt Druitt, I deeply understood how poverty could shape a person's life. Lucky I had a strict dad who was working as a pastor and he guided me all the way and that's why I didn't walk the wrong path. I started to learn business by opening my first restaurant "A taste of Pollywood" in 2006. I then opened a car wash and another security business in the same area.

Later in life, I travelled back to Samoa for good so as to be close to my dearest family. I then realised that there's so much to do to help with the island's economic growth by using my business knowledge and skills.

Before having the idea of HungerZero, I had worked in another food charity which I gained lots of experiences with first hand connections with various food charities. During leisure times, I love reading and welcome open discussions about any philosophy in life. I also love travelling to different countries to explore different cultures.

In the sea, I am a grain of sand.
I am ordinary, but I am enterprising, have watery dreams and lofty ideas. I firmly believe that "love" is everywhere.

I am humorous and tolerant. I think the smiles of other people are the most beautiful scenery in the world. So every day, I will become a pistachio person and bring them joy as much as possible.

I want to be myself. I want to see the real me, the whole confident me, and tell myself "This is me, a different kind of firework".

I am aggressive and have the courage to face any difficulties and setbacks in life. I try to influence and guide the people around them with a positive and optimistic attitude in life, giving them the power to open their hearts, and have the belief that tomorrow will always be better!

The sea is boundless. People are boundless, I am just a drop of water in the universe, a blade of grass, a grain of sand.

But the droplets merge into the sea, the grass dots the plain, and the fine sand draws a beautiful landscape for the beautiful beach, I believe I can contribute to my team, contribute a piece of strength.
